Legon Under Threat, One Raped another Stabbed - See Photos

On Thursday June 19th, two students were attacked by armed robbers between Bani Hostel at the University of Ghana and Atomic Junction. Isaac Danquah, a Third year (level 300) student of the university was stabbed when he was escorting his girlfriend to Atomic Junction after a visit. Hmmm Boys Indeed Abr3.....

Few hours after this incident, a Mount Crest University girl who was on her way to Atomic Junction after visiting a friend at Legon was also raped. This Lady has however decided to remain anonymous 

Reports from our sources says, Isaac Danquah, the gentleman who was stabbed said;

“I was escorting my girlfriend from Bani to Atomic junction around 7:30pm and these two guys on a motor bike stopped in front of us. One pulled a knife and asked for my girlfriend’s bag I was holding. Earlier, I didn’t want to release it so he tried stabbing me with the knife. Police Foil Jail Break!

The four suspects- Haruna Acheampong, Bukari Bari, Jibriela Barisa, Innusah Kunja, were in police custody on charges of stealing, robbery and possession of narcotics without lawful authority.

They were being held at the Tamale Central Prisons but had to be transferred to Bunpkurugu a day earlier in order to facilitate their appearance before a Nalerigu District Magistrate Court in the East Mamprusi District.

While in detention, they continuously and  persistently demanded drinking water from officers at the counter.

Unknown to the cops, they poured the water on a weak section of wall of the cell to facilitate their escape.

Few hours later they demanded water but the police suspected something fishy and decided to check the cell.

One of them however suggested they wait for a while since the suspects were likely to immediately stop what they were doing.

No sooner had the police hatched a plan to clamp down on the suspects than they heard a loud noise.

When they opened the cell, they discovered that the suspects were busily working to facilitate their escape from lawful custody.

The police arraigned them before the Nalerigu District Magistrate Court presided over by Robert Agbleze on charges of conspiracy, causing unlawful damage and attempting to escape from lawful custody.

All four pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded into prison custody in Tamale to reappear July 3, 2014.

The adjournment was to help the court to secure the services of a Fulani translator to help two suspects who claimed they could not speak any other language.

The prosecutor however insisted they were only lying to the court but the trial judge indicated that the court would provide a translator on the next date.

The substantive case for which the suspects were arrested would be heard later, according to police investigators.

A Hit-and-run driver kills woman at Adenta, Accra.

A woman, believed to be in her 60s, was knocked down by a 207 Benz bus at Adenta barrier, a suburb of Accra Thursday.

The accident, according to an eyewitness, occurred around 5:30 am when the woman was trying to cross the road.

A ritualist owned by a pastor uncovered in Lagos, 8 kidnapped victims rescued.

A ritualist den owned by one pastor Ernest Nwankwo, the General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry a.k.a House of Mercy was yesterday June 25th uncovered at Ogolonto area in Ikorodu, Lagos, with 8 victims rescued.

According to Vanguard, the den was discovered after a failed attempt by a woman identified as Mrs Rosemary Chukwu, a member of Pastor Nwankwo's church, to kidnap her neighbor's 7 year old son, Emeka Emmanuel to the den for rituals.

At least 91 persons, were said to have been abducted by Boko Haram men between Thursday and Sunday from the Kumanza,Yaga and Dagu, Damboa and Dagu, Damboa and Askira Uba Local Government Areas of Borno State, local vigilante officials said yesterday night.

Plane flying from Nigeria to Gabon missing

A four-seater plane flying from Nigeria to Gabon through Cameroon has gone missing. The plane, owned by US company, Global Aviation, took off from Kano Airport around 6pm yesterday Monday June 23rd and was billed to make a stop over at Doula Cameroon before continuing to Gabon to arrive at 11pm but it never arrived at Doula, Cameroonian Aviation authorities have said. Only an American pilot was on-board.

Man arrested for burying mother and daughter alive in Ogun state in Nigeria.

The Lagos state Police Command yesterday June 22nd at the Force Headquarters in Ikeja Lagos arrested a 64-year-old native doctor Alhaji Azeez Olatunji for killing retired customs officer, Mrs Angela Uzo Kerry and her 10 year old daughter, Obiajurum (both pictured above) by burying them alive on May 17th at his home in Ire Akari Crescent, Ajuwon Akute, Ogun State.

Alhaji Azeez, an indigine of Oyo state with three wives and five children, had served as a trado-medical doctor to late Mrs Kerry who was looking for a child as the young girl killed with her was an adopted child.

Police arrests a suspected Kano bomber.

Nigeria security forces have arrested a suspect in connection with the bomb blast that happened this afternoon at the School of Hygiene, BUK Road in Kano at least eight people lost their lives with 12 others sustaining various degrees of injury.

Confirming the arrest, Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adenrele Shinaba said investigations will begin immediately

"The suspect is in our custody, and the vehicle he used for the operation has also been towed to the police headquarters. We will get to know the motive behind the attack, and who sent him on this deadly errand." he said

He also confirmed 20 people were taken to the hospital after the bomb blast and 8 of them have been confirmed dead. See more pictures....

2face Idibia has slammed a N100million suit against soft-sell magazine, Icon Weekly, for libel. The Media/Entertainment Law Firm of L & A- Legal Consultants has filed libel proceedings on behalf of  2face, at the Ikeja High Court asking the court to award their client the sum of N100million being damages for the libelous publication posted on the magazine’s online and print platforms. 

Egypt sentences 3 Al-Jazeera journalists to 7 years imprisonment. :(

Three Al-Jazeera journalists, Peter Greste (correspondent, Australian), bureau chief Mohamed Fahmy (Canadian/Egyptian) have been sentenced to 7 years in prison each over allegations of false reporting and association with the now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood. While a 3rd journalist, Baher Mohamed (producer) was given 10 years for same charges and also for being in possession of ammunition.

The three journalists were arrested in December 2013 after security forces raided their work suite office in Cairo on charges of 'spreading false news' and holding meetings with Muslim Brotherhood.
