THE PURPLE DRANK.

We popularly know it as THE PURPLE DRANK. This drink is very deadly due to its composition and the effects in the human body system. Getting “HIGH these is not just by taking alcohol and smoking weed. As the world is advancing, we turn to be much open and get involve with a lot of the things that comes along with this advancement.

This deadly concoction is mostly taken for granted by the youth. Most of us know the side effects of this drink which we think gets us high but then rather causing more harm than good. The composition of this drug is not medically advisable because it’s deadly.

The PURPLE DRANK is simply a mixture of codeine with promethazine and soda or sprite. With this combination the colour now changes to a purple like colour.

WHAT IS CODEINE??

Codeine is an opioid/narcotic analgesic that is typically used to reduce coughing or to relieve mild or moderate pain. It's often used in combination with other medications. However, codeine can have harmful interactions with many substances (like medications, herbal supplements, alcohol, narcotics, and so on)

What is promethazine?

Promethazine is in a group of drugs called phenothiazines (FEEN-oh-THYE-a-zeens). It works by changing the actions of chemicals in your brain. Promethazine also acts as an antihistamine. It blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in your body.

Effects of Purple Drank include:

• Constricted pupils that do not respond well to light
• Rough, raspy voice
• Slow, slurred speech
• Uncontrolled eye movement
• Droopy eyes
• Slowed heart rate
